Easter
Fun plastic egg activities that go beyond the hunt
Submitted by wendy on April 26, 2011 - 12:11pmEaster just ended and already you're sick of finding/stepping on halves of plastic eggs that only 2 days ago housed delicious candy goodness. Feeling rather guilty about wanting to scoop up all those shells and dumping them into the nearest trashcan you hunt for ideas to extend their little plastic-y life and keep them off your floor.
Easter counting game how-to
Submitted by wendy on April 20, 2011 - 9:18amYeah, Easter is great and all but what gets me is when all the hunting/egg-dying/basket-giving is over what do I do with all the egg-shaped goodies (both candy and plastic)? Sure it's fun to relive the magic by staging mock egg hunts but after the 100th time you've run out of places to hide the eggs and your still left w/dozens of egg-shaped plastic. I'm always on a look out for fun ways to reuse those plastic eggs so they don't end up as carpet bombs in my kids' rooms.
Make thumbprint Easter cards today, mail them tomorrow!
Submitted by wendy on April 15, 2011 - 12:48pmYou have a little over a week to send those snail mail bound Easter cards off to loved ones around the globe. Although greeting cards come in all levels of sentiment I know my family really cherishes those ones crafted by my funny little bunnies. Crunch time is here for whipping up some homemade cards so you're gonna need something fast.
How-to Spring daffodils from egg cartons
Submitted by wendy on April 13, 2011 - 9:27amI really love the idea of crafting beautiful egg carton flowers. I can't think of a more perfect (or fun way) to recycle those cartons you'll collect from the dozens and dozens of eggs you'll be dying this Easter.
Make a Spring wreath from egg cartons
Submitted by wendy on March 30, 2011 - 9:12amAs rain days begin to give way to warmer weather one can't help but feel that Spring is finally here to stay. And since the seasons are changing it's also time to switch up the decor. Out with the frosted glass votives, in with the daffodils in milk glass.
Post-Easter/pre-Earth Day egg shell to seedling container DIY
Submitted by wendy on April 2, 2010 - 3:11pmAs soon as Easter is over Earth Day will be here. And it's a big one this year...Earth Day number 40 to be exact. Why not impress the kids and get a jump start on the greening with this clever idea from Chronicle Books for turning your empty egg shells into seedling containers.
Here are 62 way to decorate eggs when PAAS just isn't cool enough
Submitted by wendy on April 2, 2010 - 12:08pmFeeling PAAS and his good pal Dudley are just too old school for your uber-cool modern lifestyle? Egg day is almost here and you know it's time to get your Dwell loving butt in gear.
DIY geode Easter eggs because science + crafts = AWESOME
Submitted by wendy on April 1, 2010 - 12:35pmIn my home the closer we get to Easter, the more egg-crazy we seem to be getting. And now that my kids are 4 and 10 years old it's not enough to just pullout the Paas and color some eggs. We need to move things to the next level and since they're learning about all sorts of cool scientific-y stuff at school why not bring in a little science into the (egg) mix?
Rabbit handprint cards let loved ones know somebunny loves them
Submitted by wendy on April 1, 2010 - 9:36amLast summer we made the move up North from Southern California so this marks our first Easter spent away from our family. Now you should know we're a mixed religion family who practices Judaism as our family's religion so Easter isn't a big holiday for my husband and me. However, my kids are really sad they will be missing the big Easter event at their Auntie Julie and Uncle Eric's home which consists of a massive egg hunt, tons of yummy food (including all the Auntie Julie's special potato salad you can stomach), relatives only seen once a year and just loads of laughs and fun.
Robots + rabbits = robbits
Submitted by wendy on March 25, 2010 - 10:18amThe time to basket-up is approaching at a hopping mad pace. In a few days you'll be lucky to find a bag of jelly beans on the store shelf that aren't of the spice variety. And if you were hoping to whip up some homemade Easter basket fun you're days are numbered.
