50 summer crafts to do with the kids

Oh how I loves me the lists...Especially when I come across one chockfull of fun to be had...Great ideas I can tuck into my mommy bag of tricks and with summer around the corner I'm sure I'll be digging deep when things get desperate.

If you're like me and are looking to stock up on summer activities to do with the kids then check out The Long Thread's list titled 50 Summer Crafts for Kids. Ellen is the master list maker of all things crafty.

Her post actually begins with a link to another list on 50 ideas to get your children to love reading which is broken down by age group to address the needs and interests of each set of readers (an excellent, quick read). The rest of Ellen's summer craft list is broken down into three categories; outdoor projects and nature crafts, arts and crafts, and summer eats. The compilation is a mix of classic fun, science-y goodness, imaginary play ideas and more, most of which require minimal cost and materials. My favorite must-tries on her list include a sunprints tutorial from The Light Garden, se7en's kaleidoscopes for kids and a Mexican metal tooling how-to by Restoration Place. Crafting in the kids and summer just seem to go hand in hand...Get out there and get to the making.
