A couple DIY tutorials for recycled holiday gift boxes
You're preparing for the holiday gift giving season. You think gift boxes are a waste of cardboard and money. Your day is bookend by a heaping bowl of Fruity Pebbles for breakfast and a satisfying soggy bowl of Cookie Crisp as a midnight snack. Don't toss those empty cereal boxes just yet. Try recycling those cardboard babies into stylish gift boxes.
Instructables's member Blight Design provides this pretty nifty and sophisticated tutorial on how-to make a Gift Box from a Cereal Box.
"After watching J.J. Abrams' TED talk, I was fascinated that he was interested in box design. I was inspired and figured I'd give box making a shot. I eat a lot of cereal, and had a lot of almost empty boxes lying around. So after a bowl of Capn' Frosted Life, I had all of the materials I would need."
And if you don't want to waste paper, time and money wrapping the box why not try this "How to Make Cereal Gift Boxes" tutorial from Curbly member Chrisjob? Kind of a cool pop-artsy way to present the perfect present.
Fish those cereal boxes out of the recycle bin, gather the proper materials, turn on that Tivo'd episode of "Fringe" pour a huge bowl of "Capn' Frosted Life" and settle in for a session of upcycling gift wrap making.
