DIY crafters offer kits to assist those of us with a lot of "DI" and no "Y!"
There's been a sort of on going theme this week I've noticed on Craft's blog. Seems like several of those super insanely crafty folks are finding a way to profit off the DIY craze with DIY kits for those of us who never measure twice, cut once.
One of my favorite sites posted on Craft for kits includes a really sweet collection of girl dresses, hats, bags, shirts, dolls, and even women's clothing by British company Clothkits. All Clothkits come with "Printed fabric with all cutting lines on the cloth, Guterman thread, and all necessary quality haberdashery (shell buttons, elastic, zips etc), lining or facing fabrics where the design calls for this, easy to follow, well illustrated instructions." I must admit I'm really digging the Medow Pinny Kit. I love the silk screened fabrics Clothkits use.
Egg Press makes these cute little DIY pillow Stitch Kits. We are fond of the monkey Magnus pillow kit which includes "two hand-screenprinted pieces of canvas (one monkey side, one brown and blue asterisks pattern side), easy to follow instructions, name tag." All that's required is a little filling to fatten the monkey up and some very basic sewing skills and prepare for some major snuggle time. A perfect activity for your little summer vacationer to complete during those long road trips. And just think, by the time you arrive at your vacation destination your little craftyhead will have her very own pillow to cuddle with during her stay!
Finally, softie plush artist Donna Wilson is now selling Make Your Own Monster Kits on her site. If you're looking for a summer project to do with your school age kids these little kits are charming and perfect because they don't require any sewing and are sure to fill one of those humdrum summer days where it's too hot to move and your stuck in the house with a bored kid. And what's not to love about watching your mini Dr. Frankenstein having oodles of fun crafting his own monster and bringing it to life! According to the site all kits include "...pre-stitched creature shape, stuffing and felt bits and bobs and step by step instructions to make your very own unique friend." Just a few of the many clever crafty folks out there bringing some funky, fun kits to those of us lacking the skill AND patience to truly DIY!
