DIY: Photo puzzle blocks
You're half-way through summer vacation and by now you might have already blown through all the trips and activities you've planned with the kids who are slowly turning into couch cushions as things heat up outside. So now what? Hows about a homemade puzzle craft that will give those fine motor skills and brains a nice workout?
Check out this awesome tutorial for making photo puzzle blocks put together by Photojojo. Stylish and educational this set of blocks can be easily crafted by your bored-out-of-her-mind teen(if she can be trusted with an X-acto knife that is) using photos from a family vacation or perhaps her bff's...or a few potential boyfriends? For younger kids the blocks can be made as easy or as hard as you want to solve...Use one photo for the young toddler and more photos for the school-age child ready for the challenge. I think my 3 year old daughter would get a huge thrill out of a set of block puzzles featuring photos of the people who love her the best. Nice enough to leave out on a coffee table for guest to play with or toss the set in a bag and then in your purse to be pulled out when your squirmy tot needs a distraction in IHOP while waiting for his pancakes to arrive. And for an eco-conscious twist snatch up used blocks from yard sales or conduct a mini-scavenger hunt with the kids in an air conditioned thrift stores when you need an escape from the blazing temperatures. These personalized puzzle blocks are sure to be a hit with your kids.
