Dress-up fairy apron tutorial compliments of Wee Wonderfuls

I recently completed a dress-up fairy apron using this awe-inspiring fairy apron tutorial courtesy of super-fabulous Wee Wonderfuls. The tutorial is helpful with precise, clear directions and hand-drawn pictures. Being a beginner sewer I appreciate the simplicity of this tutorial even if it took me three different times to master a gathering stitch. I love, love, love that the wings are directly attached to the apron and that it's an apron that will for sure grow with my beanstalk of a child. Plus, the side ties rock hard.

Here's my attempt at creating a wonderful little fairy apron for my wee woodland sprite. As you can see my beginner sewing skills shine through in it's crooked wings that hang way too low on my child's back. Oh, and it just so happened the day I actually remembered to look for a fake flower (I truly hate these phony pieces of synthetic nature anyways) to place in the center of the wings all the craft store I happened to be in seemed to have on hand was nothing but fake summer flower rejects. I was also going for a rocker fairy look hence the stars and rainbow fabric. However, it ended up looking more Orphan Annie/poorly constructed homemade Halloween costume your parents fooled you into wearing to go trick-or-treating in and got away with it because you were too young to know the difference. Until you were older and came across a picture of yourself in the hideous thing but by then all you could do was laugh because cheesy as it looked you were such a darn cute kid that it didn't matter. I try. That should count for something right? Oh, my poor, poor children. I call this first apron one of many attempts to perfect the homemade fairy outfit.
