GeekDad: "10 Geeky Movies to Raise Your Kids on" and I couldn't agree more.
What's not to love about Wired's "10 Geeky Movies to Raise Your Kids on"? It's one of those childhood memory inducing/"Oh yeah, I forgot about that one"/we desperately need a quality movie for our Family Movie Night type of lists. Or what I like to call a good "free movies in the park" list. And the geek in me is loving the shout out at #4 of "My Neighbor Totoro" and all thing Miyazaki.
"In our never-ending quest to provide you the tools and knowledge to raise your kids in your own geeky image, we present you with a list of 10 geeky movies to raise your kids with. This is a starter list, and by no means comprehensive. It also skews towards the younger set because we have to lay the proper geeky foundation."
But where's the "Tron" and "Labyrinth"" love? You totally KNOW Jennifer Connelly was working the super hotness in Labyrinth even when she wished her infant brother away to the goblin king and how can you not drool over David Bowie in spandex, heavy eyeliner and a severe rocker mullet? All in all, the list consists of geek-worthy titles for any socially awkward kid to use as a reference guide for finding the perfect and filling all that free time memorizing his favorite scenes. So he can some day whip out the perfect line in a packed movie theater attempting to be smarmy and impress his friends only to receive heavy sighs and rolled eyes from the people who have to sit directly behind him for the third installment of the Star Wars prequel. Yes, we get it, you LOVE "Monty Python's Holy Grail." And please don't bust out a Yoda-esque "Appreciate my superior knowledge of MPHG do you not?"
