Hanging book case how-to for your little book worms
With a few little book worms of our own we're constantly swimming in a sea of books by week's end. I love this hanging bookshelf how-to by Megan posted on Ohdeedoh and think, as if I need another excuse to sew, that both of my kids seriously need one of these hanging over their beds. Our 9 year old is constantly crawling into bed to catch a few chapter of his favorite Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. While our 3 year old daughter requires a minimum of ten picture books read to her before each sleep session, half as a stall tactic we realize but who cares given all the extra bookie goodness she's getting and the few extra minutes of cuddle time we're treating ourselves too? I love the idea that the hanging shelves are there for our kids to display their favorite books and at arms reach when they just gotta take a peek.
According to Megan "We’re bonkers for books at our house, but allowing our 3-year-old daughter to choose her own every night before bedtime can be a lesson in patience. She’s a dilly dallier as it is, but what makes it harder is that her bookcase, like most bookcases, only displays the spines of the books. Since she can’t read the book titles, she pulls every book off the shelf until she recognizes the cover art of the one she wants. I made this hanging book display to help solve that problem. It’s modeled after school-grade book display cases that show the fronts of books, and hopefully will make choosing a bedtime book easier (and faster!)."
Not to mention, those store bought book display cases cost a really pretty penny, some close to 100 smackaroos. Where as this project will run you around $30. Plus, you get to customize it making it a truly unique piece for your kid's wall. I mean, look how cute those books look all tucked into their fabulous fabric hanging display case.
