Happy Cinco De Mayo! Party like it's 1862 w/these easy DIYs
Today is the 5th of May or Cinco De Mayo. A day commemorating/celebrating the Mexican army's victory over French forces on May 5, 1862 at the Battle of Puebla.
If you forgot to arm yourself with mandatory maracas and a sombrero it's not too late to whip up a few last minute accoutrements. Kaboose happens to have a nice compilation of Cinco De Mayo goodness. On their Cinco De Mayo page you'll find a little bit of everything from the history behind the holiday to recipes to printables.
My favorite section is their collection of Cinco De Mayo crafts. Many of the crafts are made from materials you probably already have on hand like the Rice Krispies sound shakers and paper lunch bag maracas. However I really love the sombrero and chili paper garland, foam mariachi guitar and the wearable sombrero. These crafts might require a quick stop off at your local art supply store on the way home from picking up the kids from school.
Now get yourself to work! Arriba! Arriba!
