OH Repost: Recycle glass jars into jack o' lantern luminaries

It's no secret that we're keen on repurposed Halloween luminaries. Therefore it should come as no surprise that we are head-over-heels, deeply, madly, totally in love with this tutorial for making cutie-pie glowing jack o' lanterns from recycled jar courtesy of Emily from Not So Idle Hands. We can't seem to make enough of 'em...And that's just fine with me being I'm proud owner of an impressive glass jar stash. We gobble up the pb&js around here like vampires on a feeding frenzy.

What I love the most about this how-to, besides its obvious eco-consciousness, minimal materials and bargain price, is it's truly a simple project for kids to make. My 3 year old and 10 year old completed their own jars with only a modeled example from me. I was so happy with their level of engagement during the activity. Although my kids love to craft they have the attention spans of, well, a 3 year old girl and 10 year old boy so it was really something wonderful sitting around the table with my entire family on a recent rainy October evening crafting pumpkin luminaries and chatting away.

The only thing I did different from Emily's awesome tutorial was I used LED tea light candles instead of holiday lights since we like displaying our jack o' lanterns on our mantel. My kids loved this project so much they are begging to make more. However, I'm satisfied with the small family of glowing pumpkins we already have so I'm thinking we just might have to make some other spooky Halloween luminaries like these monsters and ghosts featured on Crafts by Amanda. I'm all aglow!
