"Olive, My Love"...to you
There's a book for every holiday and Valentine's Day is no exception; especially when authors can write about hearts and flowers, love and chocolate. Enter a Valentine's Day story of a dog on a mission Olive, My Love. The whimsical story-telling skills of Vivian Walsh and J. Otto Seibold's uber-detailed, kooky illustrations seamlessly mingled together creating one exciting Olive adventure. This is my family's favorite Valentine's Day book I believe because it's written to entertain. And even though we've read it at least 10 times each Valentine's Day for the past three years we still manage to discover some new hidden treasure within it's pages. What's not to love about a book who's title alone makes you want to hold a Zepplinfest in your living room (I couldn't resist...WEEN covering Led Zeppelin=Awesome )?
Olive believes her friend Dexter, the flying dog, has accidentally lost his "heart" when he drops it on her doorstep. Immediately Olive (with the help of a few friends) sets out to return the heart to it's rightful owner only to discover it wasn't missing at all. The moral being don't question love even when it's sitting on your doorstep...ok...maybe that's not the moral and perhaps there's no real moral to this charming little story. What it is, is a bright and silly story sure to delight your family and put you in the most delicious mood. Almost as deliciously as a gooey Valentine's Day cupcake topped with red and pink sprinkles and perhaps a few Redhots.
