Sew a sweet travel pillow for your pint-size globetrotter
With a few upcoming summer trips planned our family has been gathering necessary essentials to make our long car rides and flights manageable and..dare I say it...enjoyable. I'm making a few things for my kids to help ease them into travel mode. I love the idea of taking the time to craft the super-cute projects for my kids all of which are unique, functional, from the heart, space-saving as well as money saving ideas.
Currently I'm sewing doodle bags for my 9 year old son and 3 year old daughter. I seem to be churning out the art bags at a snail's pace between day trips to fabulous places and playdates with friends, trying to keep my kids entertained enough not to kill each other.
And if I can manage to squeeze a wee bit more time and energy into my already packed summer schedule I really want to make my kids each one of adorable travel pillows. Maya*Made generously shares her tutorial with us, chockfull of wonderful pictures and clear directions. The pillows are stitched together using minimal materials in minimal time...an hour tops. I love the little pocket on the front perfect for stashing a teeny stuffed friend.
According to Maya, "Everyone needs something soft and familiar to rest their weary heads upon... especially our children when they're far from home. This little travel pillow has a built in handle for easy toting or to clip onto a backpack when heading off to camp, a sleep over, or some other summer adventure. I made two different sizes for my ten year old and four year old, but I believe this small size is perfect for anyone... even an adult on a long plane flight (just like traditional airline pillows)."
A must for your mini-globetrotting companion. Have pillow, will travel!
