Sew a water bottle tote for your happy summer camper

Everywhere we go this summer my kids have their Klean Kanteens within reach. No matter if it's playtime at the park, bike rides around the neighborhood or days spent digging in the sand their water is always within reach. And because we've made it a family goal to eliminate the use of plastic bottles we're extra careful the containers return home at the end of each adventure...Problem is this usually means I'm the one doing all the hauling. And let me tell you there isn't anything much more back-breaking than carrying 4 fully-filled steel containers around in a backpack. Or more frustrating than having to pull one out every 5 minutes when someone gets thirsty.

Ellen of The Long Thread has generously posted a tutorial for sewing a water bottle tote. A cinch to make this DIY yields a nice little tote for your eco-minded water guzzlers. And speaking of cinch, I love the way she's added the elastic rim to the tote keeping water bottles in place for when junior is on-the-go to all the summer fun. Topping the tote off is a sturdy handle tough enough to stand a rough-and-tumble day of playing in the sweet, sweet sunshine. Not only have I finished a couple of these totes for my kids for the summer I"m already making plans to get some together for back-to-school time in the fall.
