An organization started by a team of mommies looking for a way to cut down on wasteful consumerism the group holds events throughout the year for people to sell their new and gently used kids' items turning unused eyesores junking up homes into extra cash and new treasures for bargain hunters in need of a deal on expensive children's ware.

The Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center (SIJCC) whose mission it is to enrich "its community and foster a sense of belonging among Jews, mixed-faith families, and other interested people by providing educational, recreational, and social programs steeped in Jewish tradition, culture, and values" is holding a special fair in honor of Hanukkah. For $5 adults and children 6 and under free, families can enjoy holiday stories, games, music from LA's own awesome kiddie-folk band

If you're like me you've been desperately wanting to stroll the grounds of the Getty Villa in Malibu exploring the Greek antiquities and such yet have hesitated since it's reopening over two years ago because you just can't shake the image of the havoc your tiny tikes are sure to wreck if cut lose on the villa's beautiful grounds.

And almost hate sharing this information with you because we're greedy that way and like holding onto the few best kept secrets we have since we don't have many. However, her classes are truly a bargain and she's so wonderful at what she does it almost seems criminal not to share her with you. I'm serious when I say you are getting a deal.

What the Dickens is happening this weekend in LA you say? Well, let me tell you. The Geffen Playhouse is hosting a special theater performance of Charles Dickens' holiday classic A Christmas Carol as part of their popular family theater Saturday Scene series. The show will be performed by Will and Company a theater group that specializes in educational outreach programs.

Devil's Night is back with an Angel City Drive special Family Night screening of 1990 Burton classic "Edward Scissorhands" this Saturday, December 13th. Treat your kids to this strange and beautiful story of a fish out of water thrust into the middle of suburban hell. December 20th marks the beginning of winter. Franklin Canyon Park in Beverly Hills is hosting a free family Winter Solstice Hike honoring the up coming season. Appropriate for families with children 4 years of age and up this guided moderate 2 hour hike in Franklin Canyon is the perfect opportunity to stretch your legs and learn a little something about LA nature in the winter. Guides will be holding discussions on the seasonal changes and planets and constellations in the winter sky.

Bowers Museum in Santa Ana is holding a really great Kwanzaa Family Festival this Saturday, December 27th for families looking to learn more about the holiday or just looking for s a nice way to celebrate the holiday together. According to the site "Join us in a cultural tradition that celebrates the best of African thought, practice, and culture, the well-being of family and community, the integrity of the environment and our kinship with it.

Today marks the first day of Kwanzaa, a warm and beautiful holiday outlined in seven principles exploring special traditions, culture and family togetherness in the African American community. To honor this meaningful holiday Luckman Fine Arts Complex on the Cal State Los Angeles campus is having a Kwanaa Celebration Concert this Saturday, December 27th at 8pm.
