Abbot Kinney Street Festival this Sunday, September 28th

This Sunday, September 28 is the Abbot Kinney Street Festival. In it's 24th year this festival stretches from Venice to Main Street along trendy Abbot Kinney boasting block after block of crazy-cool wares, goodies and sounds in true Venice style. A place where burning sage and lemon-grass scented truffles mix and mingle so fragrantly you're instantly transfixed by the scene.

"One of Southern California's most popular community festivals-the annual Abbot Kinney Festival to be held in Venice on Sunday, Sept. 28, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM-is eco-chic with its new "Connected" Green Lifestyle Area showcasing art, music, community groups, and businesses that inspire healthy living. Included in the wide range of environmentally friendly fun will be a gourmet green food court curated by Chef CJ of Bravo TV's "Top Chef," sustainable art workshops, a bike valet station sponsored by Whole Foods Market, and test drives of alternative-fuel vehicles by Drive Clean California. Renowned for eclectic shopping and world class restaurants, Abbot Kinney Blvd will be closed to traffic from Main St. to Venice Blvd to accommodate 3 stages of live music, dancers and performance artists, a spectacular Family Courtyard, Traditional festival and ethnic foods, Beer Garden, Green Living Area and over 300 vendors featuring original, handcrafted goods."

Something for everyone, the one day free festival offers a pretty impressive children's area. The Youth and Family Courtyard will be filled with a nice line-up of local musical talent, rides, games, arts and crafts, a Community Mural. interactive entertainment, puppets and much more. Plus you'll feel good purchasing extra tickets to send the kiddies down the giant inflated slide a few extra times knowing that "all proceeds from the Youth & Family Court benefit Inside Out Community Arts's award-winning free after school programming for middle-school youth in the community!" The Abbot Kinney Street Festival is one of those events that you blink you miss it. However, if you do drop by you're in for a swell little outing so buy a few more handmade soaps and silk screened tees and when you're done the beach is about four blocks away.
