ArtCamp: Print making workshops Oct. 6th in Culver City
We think ArtCamp! is super-rad. Lead by Jodi Waxman a mommy, educator and artist, the camps offer kids high-quality, hands-on art experiences for very little dough. Through her workshops kids get the opportunity to practice specific art techniques/mediums.
Jodi's next set of ArtCamp workshops will be held on October 6th. She's holding 3 different age-appropriate print making workshops. The details for the workshops include:
"Stamped prints* (ages 2 & up)
9:45am – 10:30am
Make your own “stamps†out of potatoes, erasers, and found objects, and then use them to print on paper, t-shirts, and anything else that gets in the way! Bring your own shirt, or buy one ($4) to print on.
*$15; this is a “parent-and-me†workshop.
"Styrofoam prints (ages 4 & up)
11:30am-12:30pm
Let’s upcycle some Styrofoam! We’ll use Styrofoam and some basic tools to make our own plates, roll them up with water-based ink, and then hand print them in mini-editions (3-4 prints). This is a great introduction to printmaking concepts, similar to the idea of linocuts and woodcuts, but without the sharp tools!
Monotype (ages 7 & up)
2-3pm
Monotype is a hybrid form of printmaking that combines drawing, painting and printing. We’ll use stencils, stamps, paintbrushes and other tools to create images with ink and paint on plexi-glass and linoleum “plates,†which will then be hand-printed.
All ArtCamp workshops are $20 per student, including materials, unless otherwise specified. We use water-based inks and non-toxic cleaning solutions, but ArtCamp is dirty… don’t wear your Sunday best!
Please register by October 3, 2009 with cash or check payable to Jodi Waxman. Space is limited to 8 students per session, so register early! Classes are instructed by Jodi Waxman (artist, teacher and LN/HG parent) and are held at her private, outdoor (shaded) studio space/home in Culver City.
