Celebrate 70 years of Oz this Wednesday at a theater near you!

It seems like only yesterday I was a wee Dorothy gluing red glitter on my patent leather Mary Janes much to my mom's dismay. Nowadays my very own mini-Dorothy has it easy with a pair of red glitter ballet shoes from Target. And it's amazing to think that for 70 years girls and boys have been channeling their own inner "Dorothys" and "Tin Men" or whatever OZ inspired character is trapped inside their munchkin bodies...Generation upon generation mesmerized and enchanted by this film that takes place somewhere over the rainbow.

That's why I'm so excited about the opportunity to celebrate this film with my children at a special one night only screening happening this Wednesday night thanks to NCM Fathom and partners.

According to the NCM site, "NCM Fathom, Warner Home Video and Turner Classic Movies present The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary Hi-Def Event featuring the first ever High Definition presentation in movie theatres nationwide of The Wizard of Oz. This One Night Event will take place in over 440 movie theatres nationwide on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m. (local time). In addition to the feature presentation of The Wizard of Oz, this exclusive event will include a special introduction by Robert Osborne, a classic film historian and host of Turner Classic Movies, followed by “To Oz! The Making of a Classic,” a look into how L. Frank Baum’s classic novel was transformed into one of the most beloved films of all time including archival interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and rare musical outtakes. Also featured will be an exclusive clip of the Scarecrow, Ray Bolger, dancing in High-definition for the very first time."

Tickets are on sale through the site with very limited seat availability. More details for this special Wizard of Oz theatrical event can be located on the NCM site including theater and ticket information and a fun quiz to test which OZ character you are most likely to be.

Follow the yellow brick road over to your nearest theater and see this larger-than-life family classic the way it was meant to be seen.
