Charge your pre-holiday batteries with a special family yoga/hike around Inspiration Point
The only outdoorsy thing you've been doing lately seems to be mad dashes from your car to mall entrances. The kids are on constant buzz mode which only seems to be growing in intensity with each passing day drawing you closer to winter break. The insane holiday kookiness is surly pounding you something wicked. Right now you could use a little break to center yourself and recharge before the main event pummels you into next year. Laura Fuller, somatic therapist, yoga and gymnastics instructor extraodinaire and all around gal of awesomeness has put together a pretty wonderful looking family event that will help you regain some balance in your rather chaotic life plus you get to bring your kids. Yes, you might be thinking, "Bring the kids?...Um...ok...How is THAT suppose to help me relax when they are from whom I wish to escape?" Well, think of it this way...it's a hike to a serene place for some quiet family friendly yoga then later a quiet meditation session. Yoga + Meditation = quiet kids. Not to mention this is a nice break from the holiday overload for your kids as well whom for sure have been feeling a bit overwhelmed themselves.
"Meet us at at Will Rogers State Historic Park for a hike up to Inspiration Point. After a short yoga class and snack, we’ll hike back down the trail and relax in the cool grass with a brief meditation and closing. The hike is two miles round-trip. Class will be led in a way that is enjoyable for the whole family. A healthy, organic snack will be provided, so you only need to carry drinks and a mat or towel to sit on. This activity is appropriate for kids 4 & up (or 3.5 who have yoga and light hiking experience). Please join us and spend time with friends and family in the beauty of nature."
The event takes place Saturday, December 20th from 10am to 12pm and costs $15 for the first adult, $10 for additional adults, $5 per child. Participants need to reserve a spot by emailing lifemovesthough@gmail.com or calling (310)753-3386 at which time you'll receive meet-up information. Speaking as one who's happily made Ms. Fuller's classes a one-stop shop for all my family's yoga needs this event is quite a bargain. I'm constantly amazed at what she can get squirmy toddlers, mine especially, to do. She's brilliant at what she does. Her laid-back cool nature, quick wit and expertise makes for a totally non-intimidating free flowing atmosphere that's fun and refreshing. She's really that brilliant. How nice will it be spending some good quality time outdoors, in "real" nature, playing, relaxing and connecting with your little movers and shakers on a human to human level with the perfect LA backdrop. Who knows, you might even rediscover that you actually do like your kids after all.
please pass this on!
