E(3) is for All October 3-5 @ LA Convention Center
Remember wayyyyy back when E3 meant your "industry" hook-ups would hit up their co-workers with unisex names for badges to get your sorry "non-industry" butt in on some of the sweet gaming action? Back when you smuggly fanned yourself with your borrowed "Tony" name badge as you passed all the wanna-be hopefuls crowding the LA Convention Center doors? Back when Tony Hawk and friends showed off on indoor half pipes while sexy vikings and Everquest fairies mingled and posed for pictures with Pikachus and Katamari princes. Back when vendors showered you in glorious festival chachkeys and attendees would wait two hours to sneak a peak of the new Halo. And let us not forget all the free Mountain Dew you could guzzle...Ahhh, the good ol' days.
Well, apparently sick of us interlopers honing in on the "industry" action E3 now is for everyone making it a bit less magical for those of us who reveled in the exclusiveness of the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, there's still an "industry" E3 which was held earlier this year. However, for those of us raising mini-gamers we now have the family/Joe Public version which is appropriately called E for All 2008 . And for three days the LA Convention Center becomes a larger than life arcade and these games don't take tokens. Where else are you likely to catch a glimpse of a Wayan's brother or two hawking their new "Yo Mama" type game then be able to proceed upstairs for a teaser of the new Tetris Splash for the XBOX 360? Work with me I'm helpless against the comedy that is "In Living Color" and hopelessly addicted to the ultimate time-waster that is Tetris.
