I've always thought Cinespia's Cemetery Screenings would be a great "date night" thing to do with my better half. It's just the right mix of movies, music, food, alcohol, uber-cools, energy and morbidness. Ideal for us p-units who spend most Saturday nights curled up on the couch with two kids between us watching "The Never Ending Story" for the tenth Saturday in a row. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie. Heck, I introduced the movie to my kids. But there's only so many times I can take gritting my teeth at Rockbiter's sloppy boulder munching. Isn't it odd to anyone else that he's made of stone and he's eating rock? And I grow weary having to explain that no, the horse used for Artax's character didn't die in real life when he sank into the Swamp of Sadness in the movie. Although, I know people who would disagree with me on this. But I swear, if the darn horse actually did die during the filming of the movie I'm going to sit on that urban legend for a while.

Back to the point of this post. Cinespia holds screenings of classic, rarely seen and cult-classic movies every Saturday and now Sunday evenings during the summer months through September at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. For $10 a person you can your fellow grave diggers can shake out the picnic blanket, unpack your bag of Whole Foods, uncork the bottle of Twenty Bench, prop a pillow against a cool tombstone and prepare to take in a perfect Southern California evening of goofy adult fun. And who knows, maybe spy a few celeb ghosts enjoying the flick, say a Fairbanks or DeMille?

Most Cemetery Screenings are for an adult crowd. Most that is until their annual screening of the 1985 awesomely kitchy, kooky "Pee Wee's Big Adventure". Taking place this Saturday, September 13 tickets are $10 per person and parking is $5. It's wise to check out
Cinespia's "How-To" tipsDJ Carlos Nino. Cuddle up with your posse and get ready to explain Pee Wee to your kids.
