It's a wigwam, it's a tepee..it's Turkey Day fun

Native tent making equals Thanksgiving fun. Why not get a little crafty with the kids and raise(make) a village and perhaps learn a little something about these cone shaped homes along the way?

Check out this Tepee & Houses how-to from Parents. What I love about this craft is how the walls of both structures (creamer cartons for cottages and paper plates for tepees) are made from items you'll probably be using with guests in town anyways so you're sneaking in a little resourceful repurposing along with the tons of kiddie craft fun. What bunch of kids wouldn't love erecting their own mini Plymouth Colony to play with? As opposed to having to listen to boring ol' grown-up gab?

If you're looking for something a little more involved check out this "Making a Tepee for Bendy Dolls" tutorial. With a few materials and beginner level sewing skills this tiny tepee will provide a swell little set for major action figure action. I envision watching the kids concoct the most magnificent tale of what happens when Luke Skywalker, Greedo, Batman, The Joker and Ash Ketchum meet the Natives for some serious pow-wowing tepee style...oh the fun that would ensue.

Or, got an old drop cloth to spare? Looking for a way to really wow you littlest holiday guests? Set up a life-size teepee for those mini- natives to decorate and play in pre-feast. This awesome Backyard Tepee how-to from Family Fun is awesomeness to the extreme. What rowdy crowd of cousins wouldn't love to hang out in that baby all afternoon?

All that's left is to whip up a few Thanksgiving Tepee cupcakes to munch on and read Jake Swamp's "Giving Thanks: A Native American Good Morning Message" .
