OH Repost: Turn yesterday's news into fun fall bunting

After seeing Maya*Made's tutorial for fall newspaper bunting I knew I just had to jump into Autumn action.

I've already tried her birthday bunting which has since been used for 4 kids' birthdays as well as daddy's and grandpa's...I'd call that a success in recycling. So I was confident my 3 year old daughter and I were up for the task of creating a fall bunting from newspaper. Plus our home desperately needed some fall flare. I decided against using the templates she's included in her tutorial, 2 leaves and a sweet little acorn. I instead enlarged this leaf template from Martha Stewart's site. Although, I'm happy with the end results I think I should've stuck with Maya's templates--I really want that acorn now! While I did all the tracing and cutting my 3 year old daughter took care of the painting...Did someone say team work? And one final caveat, when you get to the part when you're told to iron the painted newspaper, do it--she's not crazy. Trust me, you want your bunting to look like fresh fallen leaves and not a pile of crunchy dead plant parts.

I love the look of the finished fall bunting which is now proudly hung in our entry way. A fast, cheap, stylish and guilt-free way to spruce up your home for Autumn.

It's fall 2010 and I've just put up my Maya*Made inspired leaf bunting. It kept perfectly in storage surviving a major move and serious box juggling. Out leaf bunting looks fabulous hanging in our new home.
