Sew numbered bean bags w/this tutorial and pattern

It seems rather silly to me that I've yet to sew a few bean bags for my kid. True I'm a sewing junkie who just so happens to own a sizeable collection of fabric. And true I have a very active 3.5 year old daughter who loves to catch, toss and balance all sorts of interesting things and true we own this CD. And finally true, there probably aren't many things easier to sew than bean bags. My only guess as to why I haven't made a set is lacking motivation to stitch up the same square shape over and over and over again. Or it could just be we eat up bags of dried beans before I have the chance to nab a few heaping handfuls for crafts.

Whatever the reason I think I've finally found my motivation and can now say without a doubt my darling daughter will posse her very own set of bean bags before the month has ended. Holly of Chez Beeper Bebe has provided the inspiration behind my, if you will, new found motivation in the form of this AWESOME counting bean bag tutorial. She's provided a downloadable pattern with instructions and printable number template as well as some useful ideas for bean bag play. My favorite idea (the one my 10 year old son will probably figure out the second he gets his hands on the bags) is, according to Holly, they are "Perfectly sized for throwing across the room at people when they either say rude things or you need their attention--also, they won't leave marks on the face." I love that as your child grows these bags can be used for all sorts of teachable things from fine motors skills development to counting and basic math and much more. Bean bags you can count on, literally!
