Make tasty Olympic metals and torches and make some Olympic magic

Yup, the Vancouver Olympic Games open this Friday with promises of a spectacular ceremony. We've made it a tradition to gear up for the games by having a small-scale opening ceremonies watching party. As the event unfolds we wait and watch with excitement for our favorite parts, the parade of athletes (my son hopes to spy Shaun White) and lighting of the torch.

I'm totally going to use these tutorials for making Olympic medal cookies and Olympic torches from Cindy Hopper of Alpha Mom. I intend to really fire up the Olympic spirits, going for the mommy-points gold with these awesome ideas. I can just see us now passing our toilet paper tube torch in synch with the real one and snacking on our gold medal cookies while watching the world's athletes enter the arena. Both are so easy to whip up they could even be assembled minutes before go-time. I can't wait to take it all in...Cheer a little, cry a little, laugh, dance, munch and cuddle...The makings of one award winning family night! Go USA!
